MECA Memorial Scholarship - $500



The applicant must submit a completed application form, which is available at Southeast Electric office in Ekalaka or from guidance counselors at your high school. Applicants or parent/guardian must be a member of Southeast Electric. The applicant must also detail how  school/community/work activities will influence his/her goals and career choice. One letter of recommendation should be submitted with the application.

The scholarship applicant may be either a graduating high school senior entering his/her freshman year at a college or vocational technical school, or a current college undergraduate student. Graduate students are ineligible. The scholarship may be used at a Montana college/university or vocational school, or at an out-of-state institution.

Selection Criteria:

Southeast Electric will select scholarship finalists. The MECA Scholarship Committee will then choose the (1) $500 scholarship recipient from MECA Southeast District including Goldenwest Electric, Mid-Yellowstone Electric, Southeast Electric, Tongue River Electric and Yellowstone Valley Electric.

A scholarship certificate announcing the award will be presented to the recipient in May, in time for recognition during graduation ceremonies. Scholarship funds will not be dispersed until proof of enrollment in the college/university or vocational technical school is received by MECA. Once proof of enrollment is received, the monies will be sent directly to the financial aid office of the chosen school. Scholarships must be claimed by December 31, 2017, or the money will be forfeited.

The scholarships are funded from donations provided in memory of rural electric directors, employees and friends.

Application and Guidelines:


Southeast Electric Scholarship - $1000

We annually give $1,000 to an applicant who is a member or whose parents/guardian are members of Southeast Electric. Applicants must be planning to attend a full-time college or Vo-Tech or currently enrolled full-time in college or Vo-Tech school. Deadline for this years scholarship application is January 31, 2018.

Basin Electric Scholarship - $1000

Each year, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, awards one $1,000 scholarship to a student of a member consumer. The scholarship can be used to assist in paying for the costs of the student's college education. The applications will be available in December, 2017, and need to be returned by January 31, 2018.

Lineman Scholarship - $1000

Southeast Electric Cooperative, Inc. periodically awards at $1,000.00 scholarship to a deserving person planning to enroll in a Power Line Construction and Maintenance curriculum at an accredited Tech School. 

  • Applicant must reside within the co-ops service territory.
  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or have graduated from high school and planning to attend an accredited Tech School to pursue a career in Power Line Construction and Maintenance.
  • Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application, personal statement, and a list of school and community activities to the office of Southeast Electric before January 31, 2018

Scholarships not claimed by December 31, 2018 will be forfeited.
