Youth Tour

Each year, Southeast Electric joins other electric cooperatives across the U.S. to send appx. 1,500 students to Washington D.C. for a week with all expenses paid.

Educating today's generation on becoming active and engaged in the political process has become the focus of the electric cooperatives Youth Tour.

Guidelines:

Southeast Electric Cooperative will sponsor one student whose parents are members of Southeast Electric Cooperative to attend an all-expense-paid, week long trip to Washington DC as part of the NRECA 2010 Rural Electric Youth to Washington DC Tour scheduled June, 2010.

To apply, the student must write an original essay and submit it to Southeast Electric for judging by the coop’s Scholarship Committee.  The Youth Tour Contest Rules are as follows:

  1. The student must be a junior or senior in high school in the fall of 2010.
  2. The student and/or parent or guardian must be served by Southeast Electric Cooperative Inc.
  3. The student must write an essay on the following: "Identify and describe the key qualities that are important to young adults; and explain where today's young leader should be focused." 
  4. Essays must be submitted to Southeast Electric Cooperative by Friday, November 16, 2009.
  5. Essays must include the completed attached cover page.

The application form needs to be returned to Southeast Electric, PO Box 369, Ekalaka, MT 59324-0369.
