April 10, 2009: Fortunately the storms we have experienced in Feb, March and April have not disrupted your electric service. We are attributing this to the aggressive pole replacement program of the past few years. Additionally, the storms have not caused ice to build up on the wire. We will keep our fingers crossed through this active spring storm period.
June 17, 2009: Lightning disabled a transmission transformer located in the Ekalaka Substation. We have been operating on 2 transformers instead of 3 and are hoping the 2 will not overheat. Plans had been underway to rebuild the Ekalaka Substation so we had ordered a replacement transformer in January, 2009 which should arrive in late July. We are asking our members (particularly those being served by the Ekalaka and Box Elder Substations) to conserve as much electricity as they possibly can. Use fans for air conditioning when possible, hang your clothes out on the line, serve meals that do not require ovens. Turn lights and other appliances off when you leave a room. Shower and wash clothes late at nite or early in the morning. Cool your home off by opening windows in the late evening or early morning. Shut the curtains and windows when the day warms up. In summary, reduce the electrical load during the heat of the day and peak-hours.
